Assembly

Prior to assembly

Before assembling, make sure you have all

the components required for a complete unit.

Carefully inspect all components for damage.

Outer Tube/Main Shaft Assembly ■

Cutting Attachment Shield ■

Edger Blade ■

Kit containing cutting attachment shield, ■

mounting bracket and hardware, this

owner's/operator's manual, and a tool

kit for routine maintenance.

Mounting the cutting attachment shield and edger blade

NOTE:

It may be necessary to pull the ex cable

out from the shaft tube, engage into the

gearcase and then slide the assembly

onto the shaft tube.

Loosen gearcase clamp bolt.1.

Remove the gearcase index bolt.2.

Slide the gearcase oriented as shown 3.

onto the shaft tube insuring that the

ﬂex drive is engaged in the gearcase.

Reinstall the index bolt and tighten 4.

securely.

Tighten the clamp bolt and torque to 5.

52 – 69 inch-pounds.

IMPORTANT!

The terms “left”, “left-hand”, and “LH”;

“right”, “right-hand”, and “RH”; “front” and

“rear” refer to directions as viewed by the

operator during normal operation.

Adjust Throttle Lever Free Play

The throttle lever free play should be

approximately 4 - 6 mm (3/16” - 1/4”).

Make sure that the throttle lever operates

smoothly without binding. If it becomes

necessary to adjust the lever free play, fol-

low the procedures and illustrations that

follow.

Loosen the air cleaner cover knob and 1.

remove the air cleaner cover.

Loosen the lock nut on the cable 2.
